Brian W. Dow was born in 1961 in Bristol, Connecticut. From a very young age he was interested in illustration. As an adult, he studied graphic design at Salem State College and then attended The Art Institute of Boston. In his illustration, Brian tries to read between the lines and present visually not only what is said but what is unsaid. The pauses between the words, where, he says “the music in art lives.” Brian's recent projects include cover art for Charles Coleman Finlay's The Prodigal Troll (Pyr, May 2005) Scott Mackay's Tides (Pyr, November 2005) Keith Brooke's Genetopia (Pyr, February 2006) and Edgar Wallace, Merian C. Cooper, Delos W. Lovelace's King Kong (Grosset & Dunlap, Septemer 2005). Brian lives outside of Boston with his wife Karen, also an artist, their daughter Gracie, a budding artist herself, and their cats, who are presently writing a screenplay for a major studio.
